If getting drunk in a bar while stumbling around in crazy green clothing isn't your idea of fun, I have a great way for you to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Make your own Irish cream!

For the past couple of days, the weather in San Francisco has been absolutely amazing, and although I'm dreaming of frothy tropical drinks and fruit-laden sangrias, I know it's only March. Before I go running to the store looking for berries and stone fruit, I have to use the citrus that's sitting on my counter!
I have two perfectly ripe blood oranges waiting to be juiced.

As America increasingly becomes a gourmet nation, large food corporations are trying to change with the times. According to a story in yesterday's Wall Street Journal, companies like Campbell's and Nestlé are adapting back-of-the-package recipes to appeal to home cooks with more nuanced palates. Reading the article made me realize that I don't think I've ever made a recipe that comes on the back of a bag of chocolate chips or a box of saltine crackers.

When I'm in a hurry to eat dinner, I always turn to pasta. In the time it takes to boil the pasta, I can make a quick and flavorful sauce. This recipe is one of my go-to favorites for March because it highlights the pure, clean deliciousness of asparagus.

After a long week of admittedly too much partying, I'm in the mood for an easy, nourishing meal. Tonight, I'll be using my slow cooker to make a bacon-flecked stew with white wine and a whole cut-up chicken, reminiscent of the French countryside favorite coq au vin.
Hours later, when the scent wafting from the crockpot tells me that dinner's ready, I'll enjoy it at the table with the rest of the leftover wine.

Spring is coming soon, but for many of us, we still have some cold nights ahead of us. This time of year I always try to make my favorite cold weather foods like soups, breads, and warm treats before Spring officially blows in. Here's one my family loves that's easy to make, tastes oh-so decadent, but is a great source of fiber and protein.

There are some recipes, like this one for Irish soda bread, that are full of history. My great grandmother was born in Ireland, and she shared her method, for the St. Patrick's Day staple, with my dad.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. One can never have too much corned beef — especially if that corned beef is almost laughably easy to make in the slow cooker, and you can use the leftovers for craveworthy corned beef and fontina grilled cheeses. Yet as good as the corned beef is alone and in a toasted sandwich, I think I've found its best application yet: as the costar of corned-beef-and-cabbage pizza.

I'm always looking for easy dinners that are tasty and fresh. Stir-fries are the perfect candidate for such a meal and this weekend, I pulled out the wok to make a simple shrimp and rice noodle dish. The shrimp required the most prep since I had to devein them.
